Catherine Horace Bennett, a longtime resident of Dothan, passed away on Sunday, October 23, 2016.  She was 94.


A graveside service will be held at 2:30 PM, Wednesday, October 26, 2016 at Memory Hill Cemetery with Dr. Johnny Fain and Bob Gross officiating.  Visitation will be held at the funeral home from 1:30 PM to 2:30 PM, one hour prior to the service.  In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials to First Baptist Church or a favorite charity.


Mrs. Bennett was born in Dothan on November 8, 1921 but lived in Florida and Georgia during her childhood.  After high school graduation, she attended Huntingdon College and moved back to Dothan in 1945.


Catherine was a longtime member of First Baptist Church.  She was a member of the Dothan Study Club and retired from Regions Bank.  She was pre-deceased by her parents Lucile Cotton Horace and Orlan Vernon Horace and her husband of sixty-three years Clarence Howell Bennett, Sr.  Survivors include her children, Clarence Howell Bennett, Jr. (Buddy) and Joseph Horace Bennett of Dothan and Susan Bennett Strong and husband Henry of Birmingham along with several cousins.  Ward-Wilson Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
