Funeral services for Mrs. Sollie will be held at 2 PM Thursday, October 9, 2014 at Ridgecrest Baptist Church with Rev. Ray Jones officiating. Burial will follow at Memory Hill cemetery with Southern Heritage directing. The family will receive friends beginning at 12:30 PM prior to the service at the church. Flowers will be accepted or memorial contributions may be made to; Ridgecrest Baptist Church Building Fund, 1207 Fortner Street, Dothan, Al 36301.

Catherine Luker Sollie was born to the late Gertrude and Johnny Luker in Sweetwater, Alabama in 1928.  She was the only sister in a family of six brothers: Otto and Cecil Luker--who predeceased her, Raymond, John, James, and Curtis Luker.  She married Roger William Sollie in 1949 and they have been happily devoted to each other for 65 years. Catherine and Roger attended Ridgecrest Baptist Church where she taught third grade Sunday School for 40 years.  She was a skilled seamstress who delighted in creating heirlooms for all the ones she loved. As a wife to “Preacher,” she was one half that functioned as a loving whole.  As a mother and grandmother, she was a pillar of faith and a warrior of prayer.  Out of her servant’s heart, Catherine put others above herself all the days of her life, and now her family is rejoicing that she has finally been placed where she has always belonged--at Jesus’ side.

Catherine is preceded in death by a daughter, Becky Clark, who passed away in 2007.

Catherine is survived by four children: Don (married to Kathy), Mike (married to Beth), and Greg Sollie, Alice (married to Dan) Morris; son in law, Ken Clark.  Catherine was a loving grandmother who nurtured 13 grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren.

The family would like to say a special thank you to Barbara Jackson and the staff on Hall 1 at Extendicare, who helped them care for Catherine and Roger with loving kindness over the past few months.

Serving as pallbearers will be; Kevin Sollie, Adam Sollie, Webb Morris, Will Morris, Eli Sollie, Riley Blair and Watson Downs. Honorary pallbearers will be the Encouragers Sunday School class.
