OZARK…Mrs. Cheryl Gaddis Petrey, a resident of Ozark, died early Wednesday morning, October 26, 2022, in the Dale Medical Center. She was 73.
Private graveside services will be held at a later date in Woodlawn Memory Gardens. Fuqua Bankston Funeral Home of Ozark is in charge of arrangements.
Mrs. Petrey, daughter of the late Hubert Gaddis (Colonel, United States Army, Retired) and Martha Ann Tucker Gaddis, was a native of Atlanta, Georgia. She moved to Ozark at an early age and was a 1967 Graduate of Carroll High School. Mrs. Petrey attended Troy University and was a graduate of Wallace Community College with a Medical Laboratory Technician Degree. She was formerly employed with Dr. Taylor Caffey, Dr. B. Dowling Petrey, Dr. R.F. Zumstein, and was retired from Dale Medical Center as a Lab Technician. Some of her best times was spent visiting with family and friends, and will always be remembered as a kind, sweet person. She was preceded in death by her husband, B. Dowling Petrey, Jr.
Surviving relatives include her son, Jerry D. “J.D.” Cotton, II, Ozark; a sister, Sandra Kay Vandeventer (Chris), New Iberia, Louisiana; a brother, Dale Gaddis, Dothan; nieces and nephews, Michael Gaddis, Connor Gaddis, Annalisha Vandeventer, Danielle V. Zagrev, and David Vandeventer; relatives from the Petrey Family, step-daughter, Melanie Shay Collins (John), Loxley, AL; step-mother-in-law, Hannah Petrey, Ozark; a sister-in-law, JoAnn Petrey, MS; two brothers-in-law, , Roy Petrey (Dana), Crestview, FL and Tommy Petrey (Susan), Virginia; two step-grandchildren, Jordan Barnett and Shaun Collins.
