CENTER RIDGE COMMUNITY…Mrs. Christine Alums Gassett, a resident of the Center Ridge Community, near Ariton, died Monday afternoon, January 15, 2024, in Ozark. She was 81.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M. Thursday, 18, 2024, in the Fuqua Bankston Funeral Home Chapel with Reverend Toby Helms and Reverend Billy Dickerson officiating. Burial will follow in Center Ridge Baptist Church, near Ariton. Fuqua Bankston Funeral Home of Ozark is in charge of arrangements. The family will receive friends from 10:00 until 11:00 A.M. Thursday at the funeral home.
Mrs. Gassett, daughter of the late Thomas Oree Allums and Dessie Bullard Allums, was a native and lifelong resident of Dale County. She was formerly employed with G.T.E. as a telephone operator and was a substitute teacher for the Dale County School System. Mrs. Gassett was Pastor at Holy Faith Mission in Ariton for over fifty years. She was preceded in death by her husband of fifty-nine years, Gary Julius “Cowboy” Gassett, a daughter, Lisa Patterson, and a brother, Oree Allums
Surviving relatives include her daughter, Starla Harrell (Pedro), Skipperville; grandchildren, Daniel Patterson (Amanda), Josh Patterson (Christy), Jonah Patterson (Ashley), Amanda Hudson (Jeremy), and Cera Houston (Andrew); great-grandchildren, Braxton Sheppard, Christopher Dorrill, Cherish Martin, Brennen Patterson, Grayson Patterson, Savannah Patterson (Charlie Smith), Jordan Patterson (Shawniee), Makayla Patterson, Dearl Patterson, Levi Hudson, Chase Hudson, Gabriel Patterson, Riften Houston, Emily Livingston, Ethan Livingston, and Kelsey Livingston.
Serving as active pallbearers will be Braxton Sheppard, Brennen Patterson, Jordan Patterson, Levi Hudson, Charlie Smith, Jeffrey Lebeouf, and Chase Hudson.
