Mrs. Christine Owen Carter of Dothan died Tuesday, April 10, 2012, at Flowers Hospital. She was 69.
Funeral services will be held at 3 P.M. Saturday, April 14, 2012, at the Ward Wilson Funeral Home Chapel with Reverend Tommy White officiating. Burial will follow at Memory Hill Cemetery with Ward Wilson Funeral Home directing.
The family will be receiving friends at the funeral home from 2 to 3 P.M. Saturday, April 14, 2012, one hour prior to the service. In lieu of flowers, the family request that contributions be made to the Pulmonary Fibrosis Foundation, 81 W. Evergreen Ave. Suite 204, Chicago, Ill 60642.
Mrs. Carter was born August 4, 1942, in Geneva, Alabama, the daughter of the late William Carmichael Owen and Alpha Ruth Commander Owen. She was a member of Pathway Baptist Church. She lived in Panama City, FL until retirement in 1997. Mrs. Carter was a teacher/libarian at Cedar Grove Elementary for 28 years. She moved to Bonifay, Florida, after retirement and then moved to Dothan in 2005.
She is preceded in death by her parents, and brother.
Survivors include her husband, Robert Carter of Dothan; sons, David Carter and his wife, Jenny of Portland, OR; Kevin Carter and his wife, Shelley of Aiken, SC; sister, Velinda Hickey and her husband, Jay L. of Columbus, GA; and grandchildren, Owen, Kendall, Emmet, and Ethan Carter.
Honorary pallbearers will be the Deacons from Pathway Baptist
