Obituary: Mrs. Christine Saunders
Mrs. Christine Saunders of Malvern went to be with the Lord on Wednesday, March 13, 2013 at her home, surrounded by her loving family. She was 82.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, March 16, at Malvern Baptist Church with Rev. Hosea Parker and Chaplin Eddie Biss officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery with Sorrells Funeral Home of Slocomb directing. Mrs. Saunders will be placed in the church one hour prior to service time.
Flowers will be accepted or contributions may be made to the Malvern Baptist Church Bus Fund: P.O. Box 97, Malvern, AL 36349.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Friday from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m.
Mrs. Saunders was born on March 31, 1930 in Houston County, AL to the late Whitt and Hattie Stringfellow Jones. She was a faithful member of Malvern Baptist Church for over 50 years and was a member of the Dorcas Sunday School Class.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Doyce Saunders; one sister Rosie Smith; and two brothers: Fred Jones and John Henry Jones.
Survivors include two daughters and sons-in-law: Jane and Johnnie Trawick, Gail and Greg Roland all of Malvern; five grandchildren: Kristi and Shawn Gallagher of Peotone, IL, Jonathan and Kimberly Trawick of Rehobeth, Elizabeth and Daniel McLendon of Malvern, Kasey and Stephen Peters of Slocomb, David and Lauren Roland of Fadette; four great-grandchildren: Braxton McLendon, Shelby Gallagher , Lizzie McLendon and Kasen Peters; brothers and sister-in-laws: Roy and Carolyn Saunders, Paul Saunders and Mack and Sabie Suggs; several nieces and nephews; and beloved dog, Jake.
Serving as active pallbearers will be Christine’s grandsons, great-grandsons, and nephews. The Dorcas Sunday School Class will serve as honorary pallbearers.
The family would like to express their sincere appreciation to Ms. Gail Monk. Glenda Coleman, Sharon, Bro. Eddie Biss and the entire staff of Gentiva Hospice for their love and kindness. In addition, the family would like to express their gratitude to Dr. Cook, Dr. Aliabadi, Dr. Pinson, Dr. Meadows and their staffs.
