Dianne Rigsby, a resident of Dothan, died Wednesday, March 19, 2014 after a courageous battle with ovarian cancer at the Southeast Alabama Medical Center. She was 64.
Funeral services for Mrs. Rigsby will be held at 11 AM Saturday, March 22, 2014 at Trinity Lutheran Church with Pastor Mark Kosis and Mr. Jim Tucker officiating. Burial will follow in Memphis Baptist Church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6 PM until 8 PM Friday, March 21, 2014 at the funeral home.
Mrs. Rigsby was born July 25, 1949 in Dothan and was a lifelong resident. She retired from Webb Elementary after 35 years of teaching. From an early age, Mrs. Rigsby found a passion for helping the voiceless as her love for animals was evident. When she found out she had ovarian cancer, she continued fighting for those around her and a cure. She never accepted defeat when told to give up. Traveling from Houston, Texas to Boston, Massachusetts, she never stopped looking for a cure that would save her life and countless others. Her fight was well fought and an example of trusting in her Lord. Mrs. Rigsby enjoyed cooking and lived for her grandchildren.
Mrs. Rigsby is preceded in death by her parents, Austin “Smiley” and Carolyn Fowler; and a brother, Jerome Fowler.
Survivors include her husband, Kenneth Rigsby, Dothan; daughter and son in law, Candy and Tim Gilley, Dothan; son and daughter in law, Kip and Angie Kelley, Dothan; four grandchildren, Hayden and Dillan Gilley and Ethan and McKay Kelley; brother and sister in law, Tim and Stephanie Fowler.
