Mrs. Dixie Hagler Kelley, a resident of Skipperville, died peacefully at her home Sunday, April 24, 2022, at the age of 95.

Funeral services for Mrs. Kelley will be 2:00 P.M. Thursday, April 28, 2022, from Skipperville United Methodist Church with Reverend Davis Martin officiating. Interment will follow in Salem Baptist Church Cemetery, Holman Funeral Home of Ozark directing. The family will receive friends in the church Thursday from 1:00 P.M. until service time.

She was born October 7, 1926 to Carey Hagler and Vassie Deese Hagler. She lived in her beloved Skipperville most of her life where she was a faithful member of Skipperville United Methodist Church. She was the epitome of a Southern Lady. Affectionately known as Miss Dixie, she always loved serving her church community, cooking, making jellies, and growing beautiful flowers. She worked for 28 years at Farmers Co-Op in Ozark. She was Preceded in death by her late husband, Julius Kelley; her adored grandson, Chad Stewart; her brothers, Mack, Melvin and Shellie Hagler; sisters-in-law, Peggy Hagler (Ben) and Lucille Hagler (Mack).

She is survived by her two daughters, Gayle Stewart (Joe Paul) and Patsy Moyse. Her most favorite role was that of “Granny Dixie” to Ryan Stewart (Philann), Kelley Kearns, Tara Stewart Fowler and Becky (Chad) Stewart. Also surviving is brother, Ben Hagler; sisters-in-law, Eunice Hagler (Shellie) and Grace Hagler, (Melvin); and many nieces and nephews that meant so much to her. For several years she had many special ladies help her, most recently Faye Harvey, Deowanna Lee, Pam Osborn and Faye Sizemore helped her and were special to her; she called them her girls. Dixie had many loyal friends (too many to mention) they were such gifts to her and our entire family. She will be missed dearly by her loved ones.

Flowers will be accepted or memorials may be made in her memory to Skipperville United Methodist Church, 5088 Highway 105, Skipperville, Alabama 36374; or to Embrace Alabama Kids, 3140 Zelda Court – Suite 100, Montgomery, Alabama 36106.
