She was born on August 26, 1922 in Geneva County.  Mrs. Davis was a dedicated Christian member of Slocomb First Baptist Church and a member of Lydia’s Sunday School Class.  She took great pride of being a faithful and loving wife, a caring mother, grandmother, great grandmother and was a friend to many.  At a tender young age she married the love of her life, a World War II soldier, the late Jerry Davis.  She was employed at Van Heusen Company for over 20 years.  Her best lesson, the one she modeled for us, was that a selfless life devoted to family and others is the highest example of God’s love.

She was preceded in death by her husband, her parents:  Mathias Franklin and Dellie McDonald Crutchfield.

Left to cherish her memories are her two children:  Sandra Davis of Slocomb and Jerry Lamar Davis (Deloris) of Cochran, GA; five grandchildren:  Jennifer Creel, Jeremy Campbell (Jennifer) both of Slocomb, Shelby Hutto of Dothan, Connie Barlow of Conyers, GA, Chris Goodwin of Eastman, GA; seven great grandchildren:  Marissa Creel, Macie Creel, Hunter and Jaylee Campbell all of Slocomb, Jessica and Grant Barlow of Conyers, GA, Jacob Goodwin of Eastman, GA; one sister:  Helen Hobbs (Buck Hobbs) of Hartford, AL; one brother:  Johnny Crutchfield (Jonnie Ruth) of  Hartford, AL; several nieces and nephews.
