Mrs. Doris Lucille Turner Gilmer, age 85, of Dothan, passed away Saturday, August 23, 2014.



Born October 18, 1928 in Houston County to the late Hubert Lee and Willie Baker Turner, Mrs. Gilmer was a member of Mt. Olive Baptist Church of Malone, Florida. She had a serving nature about her and she enjoyed cooking for others and was an excellent seamstress. Retired from Warner’s after 38 years, she loved spending time with her family.



In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 50 years, Raymond Gray Gilmer; and her sisters, Lois Golden and Rose Mae Cherry.



Survivors include her son, David (Jan) Gilmer; her grandchildren, Maggie (Sherman) Tedder, Michael (Jennifer) Gilmer, and Macon Clemmons; her great-grandchildren, Jacob Tedder, Demi Gilmer, David Gilmer, Samantha Tedder, Jessica Tedder, and Sydney Tedder; her brother, Eldridge Turner; her sisters, Katherine Shiver, Ida Dean (AZ) Howell, and Shelby Jean Trusty; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.



Funeral services will be held at 11:30 AM, Tuesday, August 26, 2014 at Ward Wilson Funeral Home Chapel with Reverend Woody Farrington officiating. Burial will follow in Memory Hill Cemetery with Ward Wilson Funeral Home directing. The family will receive friends from 10:00 AM until service time, Tuesday, August 26, 2014 at Ward Wilson Funeral Home.



The family will be accepting flowers.
