Dorothy Glover Brown was a caring wife, mother, sister, aunt, cousin, and friend. She passed away peacefully at her home in bed, with her son holding her hand and her beloved dog Heidi at her side, on July 17th, 2021, at the age of 80.

Dorothy was born to James and Audrey Glover on March 13th, 1941 in Hodgesville. After graduating from Cottonwood High school, she went on to pursue a career as a beautician to share local news while styling hair for over 25 years in Dothan.

In 1968, Dorothy was introduced to Jim Brown by her sister, Jeanette. The two married in 1970 and had their only child, Timothy “Tim” Harrison Brown in 1971.

Dorothy loved spending time in the kitchen, creating delicious meals for family, and caring for her flower beds. She was world-renowned for talking and not holding back her opinion.

Dorothy was an avid Alabama football fan. Once while watching a game and joking around, her mother, Audrey, threatened to be reincarnated as a football for Alabama. Dorothy immediately said she’d volunteer to be the kicker.

Dorothy was the oldest sister in her family. She is survived by her sisters, Jeanette McCurley and Judy Tiberio, many loving nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, and friends. Early on Saturday morning, she was reunited with her brothers Lamon Glover, Frazier Glover, James Glover, and Doyle Glover.

Dorothy leaves us with countless good memories that we will cherish forever. Dorothy made people laugh and be happy just by being with her.

Visitation will be at Ward-Wilson Funeral Home, 2414 Hartford Hwy, Dothan, on Monday, July 19th from 6-8 pm. The funeral will be at Hodgesville Baptist Church, 1190 S. County Rd 33, Dothan, on Tuesday, July 20th at 10 am. Brother Danny Williams of Mt Gilead Baptist Church, where Dorothy was a member, will be officiating her service.
