Mrs. Dorothy Simmons Johnson, age 85, a resident of Ozark, Alabama, passed peacefully Wednesday, January 24, 2018, at her home.
Funeral Services will be 2:00 P. M. Saturday, January 27, 2018, at Ozark First Assembly of God Church with Pastor Greg Doss officiating. Interment will follow in Woodlawn Memory Gardens, Holman Funeral Home and Cremations of Ozark directing. The family will receive friends Saturday in the church from 12:30 P.M. until service time.
Mrs. Johnson was born January 27, 1932 in Birmingham to the late Louie and Catherine Simmons. On June 8, 1970 she moved to Ozark, where she was a member of Ozark First Assembly of God Church. Mrs. Johnson loved to cook, work outside in her flower beds, and cut grass when she was able. She loved her family very much. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her husband, Ben Ray Johnson; two sisters, Ann Massey and Martha Whittemore Sharit; and a grandson, Jason Batchler.
Survivors include her sons, Kenneth Boatwright (Shirley), Dennis Boatwright (Lisa); her daughter, Debra Sasser (Harvey) all of Ozark; two step-daughters, Bennie Young of Broomfield, Colorado and Connie Johnson of Fruitland, New Mexico; one step-son, Curtis Johnson (Pam) of Mobile, Alabama; thirteen grandchildren, Kellie Moore (Carey) of Pascagoula, Mississippi, Nic Boatwright (Barbara) of Headland, Alabama, Michael Boatwright, Evan Murray, Cameron Sasser (Robin), Nathan Sasser (Miranda) all of Ozark, Thomas “TJ” Kennington (Laura) of Eufaula, Alabama, Sandy Faulk, Keith Faulk (Beverly) of Ariton, Alabama, Holly Meeks (Josh), Curt Johnson of Mobile, Alabama, Jackie Batchler and Ben Young of Broomfield, Colorado; one sister, Betty Nolan of Trussville, Alabama; eleven great grandchildren, Madelynn and Austin Moore, Nicholas James Boatwright, II, Vivian and Benjamin Meek, Keith and Chris Watson, Cody and Kyle Faulk, and Reagan and Riley Sasser; eight great-great grandchildren, Braxton Peters, Lilly Watson, Carter Watson, Adelyn Watson, Emilie Watson, Brandon Watson, Braxton Faulk, and Jalyn Faulk. Several nieces and nephews also survive.
Flowers will be accepted, or memorials may be made to Ozark First Assembly of God Church, 170 Country Club Drive, Ozark, Alabama 36360.
