OZARK…Mrs. Edith Jean Sanders Johnson, a resident of Ozark, passed away Sunday morning, December 10, 2023, in the Ozark Health & Rehabilitation Facility. She was 86.
Homegoing services will be held at 10:00 A.M. Saturday, December 16, 2023, in the Antioch Missionary Baptist Church in Newton with Reverend Jeff Boyd officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 9:00 until 10:00 A.M. Saturday at the church. Fuqua Bankston Funeral Home of Ozark is in charge of arrangements.
Mrs. Johnson, daughter of the late Charlie Alfred Sanders and Bernice Boyd Sanders, was a native and lifelong resident of Newton. She enjoyed cooking and baking for her loving family. In addition to cooking, she always enjoyed spending time with her family. Mrs. Johnson was preceded in death by a son, Robert Jr. Johnson, sisters, Mildred Sanders, Mattie Lorene Sanders, Patricia Louise Sanders, and brother, Cedric Sanders.
Surviving relatives include her two sons, William Lewis Johnson, Ozark and Gregory Johnson, Midland City; two sisters, Julia Mae Wolfolk, Trussville, Alabama and Lizzie Mae Bell (David), San Antonio, Texas; four brothers, Lecoula Sanders (Mayfield), New York City, Alexander Sanders, Dothan, Jerome Sanders, Ozark, and Yvonne (Hildegarde), Banks, Alabama; four grandchildren, Christopher Johnson, Nikko Johnson, Wyteria Johnson, an Narkeith Johnson; ten great-grandchildren; nieces, nephews, and cousins.
