Mrs. Elizabeth Ann “Libby” Watson Murray, a resident of Ozark, died Sunday, August 23, 2020 in Ozark Health and Rehabilitation Center. She was six days away from her 87th birthday.
Funeral services for Mrs. Murray will be held 11:00 A.M. Saturday, September 5, 2020, at the Ozark Church of Christ. Interment will follow in Woodlawn Memory Gardens, Holman Funeral Home of Ozark directing. The family will receive friends in the church Saturday from 10:00 A.M. until service time.
Mrs. Murray was born August 29, 1933 in Arlington, Texas to the late Willie Lovell Watson and Jessie Elizabeth McCullouch Watson. Mrs. Murray grew up and attended school in Lawrenceburg, Tennessee. She graduated from Lipscomb University in Nashville and Peabody University where she received a Master’s Degree in Music. She began teaching music in Tampa, Florida. Mrs. Murray moved to Ozark in 1959 where she taught music at Mamie Tompkins, Mixon, Lisenby and Flowers Schools. Mrs. Murray was also a special education teacher at Eastgate Middle School. Libby loved the Lord and was an active member of the Ozark Church of Christ. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 29 years, Jimmy Lee Murray; three sons, James Lee Murray, William Thomas “Bill” Murray and Joseph Watson “Joey” Murray; and one brother, William Lovell “Bill” Watson.
Survivors include two daughters, Laura Stagliano (John) of Jacksonville, Florida, Miriam Painton (Ted) of Enterprise; one son, Mark Murray (Elizabeth) of Wicksburg. Thirteen grandchildren and four great grandchildren also survive.
