Elizabeth Jean Metcalf Raines, a resident of Slocomb, passed away Tuesday, April 14, 2015 at Bethany House in Auburn, Alabama. She was 86.


 


Funeral services for Mrs. Raines will be held at 3 PM Sunday, April 19, 2015 in Clearman Chapel at Southern Heritage with Rev. Jim Simmons officiating. Private family burial will follow. The family will receive friends from 1:30 PM until 2:45 Pm prior to the service.


 


Mrs. Raines was born July 28, 1928 to the late Charlie C. and Evelyn Smith Metcalf. She was a graduate of Wicksburg High School and retired from the Slocomb National Bank after 20 years of service. Mrs. Raines loved working with her hands and was a master seamstress, enjoyed needlework and loved to cook for her family. She was a member of the VFW Auxiliary and the Hartford Church of Christ.


 


Mrs. Raines is preceded in death by her husband, C.T. Raines and a sister, Barbara Metcalf Harden.


 


Survivors include her daughter, Julia Raines Freeman, Auburn; sons, Philip Raines (Donna), Atlanta, Scott Raines (Michelle), Asheville, NC; six granddaughters, Shelley Freeman Taylor (Chuck), Ashley Freeman Ward (Michael), Amanda Raines Burgan (Robby), McKenzi Raines, Jordan Raines and Chloe Raines; five great-grandchildren; brother, B.C. Metcalf (Myra), Dothan and a brother in law, Cliff Harden, Mt. Dora, FL.
