Mrs. Elnyr Chalker, age 90 and a resident of Dothan passed away August 3, 2014 at her home after a brief battle with cancer. She was preceded in death by her husband, Foy Chalker and her grandson, Harrison Clark.
Funeral Services will be Tuesday, August 5, 2014 at Ward Wilson Funeral Home with the Reverends Stacey Stafford and Ken Harrison officiating. Interment will follow at Memory Hill Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the Ward Wilson Chapel at 1 P.M. with services at 2 P.M. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Building Fund of the Southside Baptist Church or the Harrison Clark Memorial Scholarship Fund through the University of Alabama.
Mrs. Chalker was born June 25, 1924 in Early County, Georgia to the late Lester and Annie Sue George. She was a graduate of Cuthbert High School and Atlanta Business School. During her career as a bookkeeper she was employed with the Early County Gin, the Allotment Department of the US Treasury during WWII, Hathcock Roofing and Remodeling, and Bill Lee Contracting. She was a member of the Southside Baptist Church and the Agape Sunday School Class in Dothan. She loved cooking, giving out her recipes, the Atlanta Braves and fishing.
Survivors include her children, Sue Ann Chalker and David L. Clark (Monty) of Dothan, and Sidney H. Clark (James Stathos) Grover Beach, California. Other survivors include a granddaughter, Amy Clark Chapman (William) and great-grandchildren, hayes Chapman and Hamiliton Chapman, all of Montgomery, Alabama.
