Mother Ethel Frances Hill Corbitt was born November 27, 1938 to the late Deacon Lawson Hill and the late Mother Bertha (Porter) Hill in Abbeville, Alabama. She was the youngest of ten children.


She received her education from Henry County Training School. She loved doing for others such as crafts for the blind and wood working, among other things.


On August 22, 1959 she was joined in Holy Matrimony to her long time sweetheart Robert Lee Corbitt. They relocated to New York in November of 1959. To this union two children were born, Delois Ann Corbitt and Robert Lee Corbitt, Jr.. She loved her family dearly and felt truly blessed.


After forty-two years, she retired from Riverdale Temple in New York and moved back to Abbeville in 2001. After returning she rejoined and continued to be a proud member of Abbeville Memorial Church of God in Christ, where she accepted Christ in her life at an early age. During this time she felt honored to serve as a Church Mother and as the President of the Home and Foreign Mission. Mother Corbitt was a Beautiful Soul; she always had kind words of wisdom and empathy for all those who crossed her path.


Her parents, four brothers, Herbert, Porter, John and Robert Hill, one sister, Betsy Smith and two infant siblings all preceded her in death.


She leaves to cherish her memories, her loving husband, Robert Lee Corbitt, of 60 years who never left her side; one daughter, Delois Ann Corbitt, of New York City; and one son, Robert Lee Corbitt, Jr. of Jersey City, NJ; two granddaughters, Zenobia Turnbull and Zora Barnwell and twin grandsons, Zeus and Zethus Barnwell; two great-grandsons, Ethan Lee James Nova, Aiden Gladmir Larivaux; two brothers, George Hill of Neward, NJ and Richard Hill of Dothan, Alabama; plus a host of nieces, nephews, and many other relatives, friends, and a special lifelong best friend, Mary Edward.


Funeral services will be held at 12 PM, Saturday, July 11, 2020 from the Ward Wilson Funeral Home Chapel with burial following in Gardens of Memory Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 5 PM until 7 PM, Friday, July 10, 2020 at the Abbeville Memorial Church of God in Christ in Abbeville.
