Mrs. Eva Earline McDuffie Fortenberry of Samson, Alabama passed away Saturday, August 16, 2014. She was 79.
Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, August 19, 2014, in the chapel of Sorrells Funeral Home in Geneva with the Rev. Mark Perry officiating. Burial will follow in the Liberty Chapel Baptist Church Cemetery with Sorrells Funeral Home and Crematory of Geneva directing.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home Tuesday beginning at 9:00 a.m. and continue until service time.
Flowers will be accepted or memorial contributions may be made to the First Baptist Church of Geneva.
Mrs. Fortenberry was born April 3, 1935 in Geneva County, Alabama to the late Bradie Lewis and Eva Julia Dabney McDuffie. She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Geneva. Mrs. Fortenberry owned Eva’s Cut and Style Shop for over 10 years. She was a very loving and devoted mother and grandmother.
In addition to her parents, her husband, Orbra Fortenberry and her son, Dennis K. Fortenberry preceded her in death.
Survivors include one son, Stephen Wayne Fortenberry; two daughters: Gloria Ann Roark and Brenda Rene Smith of Jonesboro, AR; six grandchildren: Michael Fortenberry, Leah and Kyle Fortenberry, Valerie Roark, Kristy Russell (Anthony) and Sean Ezell (Elizabeth); two great-grandchildren: Audrey and Wyatt Ezell; one sister, Sarah Frances Petty (Thomas); one brother, Charles Carlton McDuffie (Patricia); and a number of nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers will be Garrett Kelley, Ray Kelley, Anthony Russell, Dave Petty, Brad McDuffie and Michael Fortenberry.
