Mrs. Faye Henderson Johnson, 81, passed away peacefully at Wesley Place in Dothan on Monday, April 8, 2024, surrounded by her family following an extended illness.
Funeral services for Mrs. Johnson will be 10:00 A.M. Friday, April 12, 2024, in the Chapel of Holman Funeral Home in Ozark with Reverend Aaron H. Johnson officiating. Interment will follow in Pea River Presbyterian Church Cemetery in Clio, Holman Funeral Home of Ozark directing.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home in Ozark Thursday from 5:00 P. M. until 7:00 P.M.
Serving as pallbearers will be Cade Easterling, Vinson Johnson, Josiah Fullbright, Prestion Williams, Chris Adkins, Chad Carpenter, Steve Carpenter and Todd Carpenter.
Mrs. Johnson was born May 15, 1942, in Montgomery, Alabama, to the late Earnest L. Henderson and Hazel J. Henderson. She graduated from Brantley High School, Troy State University with a Bachelor’s Degree in Secondary Education and the University of Alabama with a Master’s Degree in Library Science. She married the late John (Coach) Johnson and they had three children together. Mrs. Johnson had a 35-year career in public education in Barbour and Houston Counties, where she taught English and served as a librarian. She had an incredible passion for teaching, music, reading, sewing, and cooking. Many will remember her for her love of God, family and her servant’s heart. She volunteered countless hours with the Clio Rescue Squad and was a gifted organist playing at the Clio Baptist Church.
She is preceded in death by her beloved husband, John (Coach) Johnson; father, Earnest Henderson and mother, Hazel Henderson.
Survivors include son, Vernon (Lourie) Johnson of Ozark; two daughters, Sherri Harrington of Dothan and Jonna Williams of Ozark; sister, Rita (Comer) Carpenter; eight grandchildren and six great-grandchildren, Cade (Shelby) Easterling of Blue Springs; Mary Reagan (Josiah) Fullbright, and children Lena Belle, Wesley Blake, and Walker Lewis of Frisco; Vinson Johnson of Ozark; Aaron (Clara) Johnson of Headland; Prestion Williams of Agusta, Ga.; Lori Moore and children Emma and Grady of Luverne; Chris (Holli) Adkins and son John of Eufaula; and Savannah Harrington of Dothan; and many cousins, nieces, and nephews.
The Johnson family would like to thank the staff of Wesley Place (Sanders 2) and Community Hospice of Dale Medical Center for their compassionate and attentive care.
