Obituary: Mrs. Flora Marie Kelley Tolbert
Mrs. Flora Marie Kelley Tolbert of Wicksburg passed away Sunday, January 7, 2018 at Westside Terrace surrounded by her family. She was 94.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, January 10, 2018 in the chapel of Sorrells Funeral Home & Crematory in Slocomb with Rev. Jeff Lunsford officiating. A private interment will follow in the New Hinson Baptist Church Cemetery.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 1:00 p.m. until service time.
Mrs. Tolbert was born September 9, 1923 in Fadette to the late Claude and Annie Griffin Kelley and attended Fadette High School. She married and moved to Napier Field where she lived for many years before moving to Wicksburg. She retired from ANSEL after 20 years and worked at the Senior Center in Midland City. Flora was a loving mother, grandmother and great grandmother and was known as "Grandma Tolbert" by most everyone in Wicksburg. She was a great cook and made the best biscuits. She was a member of Goodwater Freewill Baptist Church and loved her church family very much.
In addition to her parents, her loving husband, J.C. Tolbert and a daughter, Joni Marie Tolbert and an infant son preceded her in death.
Survivors include three daughters: Jane Dean (Dewey), Jean McClanahan (Terry) and Joy Cox (Slade); three sons: Jerry Tolbert (Melba), Michael Tolbert (Phyllis) and Joe Tolbert (Susan); grandson, Justin Tolbert (Melanie); sister, Eloise McNeil; several grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces, nephews and other extended family and friends.
Pallbearers will be Jeremy Tolbert, Jason Tolbert, Justin Tolbert, Bradley Cox, Todd Dean and Josh Jones.
The family would like to thank the nurses and staff on Mulberry Lane at Westside Terrace and Kindred Hospice for the love and kindness they gave to their mother.
