Mrs. Frances Anita Hall Hanks, a resident of Newton, died early Wednesday morning March 15, 2023, at her home with her family by her side. She was 78 years old.
Funeral services for Mrs. Hanks will be 11:00 A.M. Friday, March 17, 2023, from Newton United Methodist Church with Reverend Sam Williams officiating. Interment will follow in Newton City Cemetery, Holman Funeral Home of Ozark directing.
The family will receive friends Friday in the church from 10:00 A.M. until service time.
Mrs. Hanks was born October 23, 1944 in Houston County, Alabama to the late Luther M. Hall and Frances Ann Granger Hall. She graduated from Cottonwood High School. Mrs. Hanks met and married Shellie Hanks and they moved to Newton. She was a member of Newton United Methodist Church and the Eastern Star. She enjoyed cooking, old movies, westerns and taking care of her family.
Survivors include her husband of 61 years, Shellie Hanks of Newton; three daughters, Debbie O’Dell (Patrick) of Dothan, Lisa Carnley (Tim) of Dothan and Jennifer L. Hanks of Newton; one son, Christopher Hanks (Mary) of Ozark; one sister, Dawn Wilson of South Carolina. Nine grandchildren and ten great grandchildren also survive.
Flowers will be accepted or memorials may be made in her memory to St. Jude Children’s Hospital, Attn: Tribute Department, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, Tennessee 38105.
