Gladys Childree, 90, of Cottonwood, Alabama, widow of Clifton Childree passed away Sunday, September 28, 2014 in Jackson Hospital in Marianna, Florida.
Funeral services will be held 11:00 A.M. Thursday, October 2, 2014 at Calvary Baptist Church of Cottonwood with Reverend Karl Hudson and Reverend John Smith officiating. Burial will follow in Selma Baptist Church Cemetery with Southern Heritage Funeral Home directing. The family will receive friends from 10:00 A.M. until service time Thursday at the church prior to the services. At other times the family will be at the home of the son and daughter-in-law.
Flowers are accepted or memorial contributions may be made to the Calvary Baptist Church building fund, 267 Metcalf Street, Cottonwood, Al 35320
Gladys was born on December 20, 1923 in Dale County, Alabama a daughter of the late Marion and Arrie Hamilton Helms. She was a homemaker and a member of Calvary Baptist Church in Cottonwood.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by two sons, Bobby and William Childree and a sister, Jeanette Shores.
Surviving are a son and daughter-in-law, Boyd (Dianne) Childree, Cottonwood, Alabama; three grandchildren, James Earl (Vickie) Childree, Slocomb, Al, Bobby Lynn Childree and Kim (Nick) Childree, Dothan, Al; six great grandchildren, Katey, Tyler, Riley, Ashley, Andrew and Brandi; two great great grandchildren and also several nieces and nephews; sister-in-law, Avis Childree and a brother-in-law, Grady Harbuck.
