Mrs. Gladys Irene Johnson Holland of Geneva, Alabama passed away Sunday, November 11, 2012.  She was 88.


 


Funeral services will be 2:00 p.m. Thursday, November 15, in the chapel of Sorrells Funeral Home in Geneva with Rev. Gerald Hollis officiating.  Burial will follow in the McDuffie Family Cemetery in Samson with Sorrells Funeral Home of Geneva directing.  The family will receive friends at the funeral home Wednesday, November 14, from 6 until 8 p.m.


 


Flowers will be accepted or memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association in Dothan or Gentiva Hospice.


 


Mrs. Holland was born February 14, 1924, in Holmes County, Florida to the late Lloyd Eugene and Robbie Crawley Johnson.  After 35 years of service she retired from Van Heusen.  She was a faithful member of Eden Baptist Church.


 


In addition to her parents her husband, Henry Lloyd “Byrd” Holland, two sisters, Jean Snuggs and Bernice Thompson, preceded her in death.


 


Survivors include one daughter, Glenda Gayle Brock (Alvin D), Ashford; one son, Lavaughan Holland (Glenda Faye), Geneva; four grandchildren: John Darren Holland, Geneva, Deborah Lynn Driskell, Panama City, Kymberli Skipper (Curtis), Prattville, AL, and Ragan Fretwell, Albany, GA; six great-grandchildren: Amanda Holland Hall (Quinton), Dillon Holland, all of Geneva, Eden and Evanne Skipper, Prattville, AL, Brock and McKenzie Fretwell, Albany, GA; two sisters: Ruby Stafford (Houston), Westville, Marie Martin (Henry), Geneva; special niece, Janice Purvis, Jesup, GA; several other special nieces and nephews.
