Mrs. Glenda Faye Sammons of Dothan passed away Tuesday, July 1, 2014 at her home. She was 65.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, July 4, in Harpers Joy Assembly of God Church with Rev. Eddie Littlefield and Rev. Thomas Harrison officiating. Burial will follow at 3:30 p.m. in the Bethel Baptist Church Cemetery in the Poplar Springs Community with Sorrells Funeral Home & Crematory of Slocomb directing.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Thursday from 5:00 until 7:00 p.m.
Mrs. Sammons was born on February 6, 1949 in Jackson County, FL to the late Henry and Elsie Rhodes Floyd. She was a humble servant of Christ and a member of Harpers Joy Assembly of God Church. Glenda Faye was a kind and compassionate mother, grandmother, sister and friend who will be missed greatly.
In addition to her parents, her husband, Jimmie Karon Sammons preceded her in death.
Survivors include two sons: Jerry L. Broxton (Marie), Fadette and Jason Broxton (Leslie), Headland; one step-son, Fredrick Sammons (Dalena), Newton, TX; eleven grandchildren: Jerrah Briggs (Brenn), Chelsea Broxton, Brittany Broxton, Chelsea Joiner, Nick, Matt, and Drew Broxton, Kayla, Megan and Tatum Sammons and Payton Monzingo; one great granddaughter, Badin Briggs; three sisters: Jeanette Smith, Orange Park, FL, Opal Stewart and Mary Loyed (Tommy) both of Dothan; one brother, Carlton Floyd (Judy), Dothan; brother-in-law, Robert Earl Sammons (Glenda Faye), Hartford; several nieces, nephews and other extended family and friends.
The family would like to express their gratitude to Carla Sammons and the staff of Covenant Hospice for the care and love that was so freely given to Glenda Faye during her illness.
