Obituary: Mrs. Glenda Riley Vinson
Mrs. Glenda Riley Vinson of Slocomb passed away Friday, March 15, 2024 at her home. She as 85.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Monday, March 18, 2024 in the chapel of Sorrells Funeral Home in Slocomb with Rev. Ricky Carroll officiating. Burial will follow at Union Baptist Church Cemetery with Sorrells Funeral Home of Slocomb directing.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Monday beginning at 1:00 p.m. and continuing until service time.
Flowers will be accepted or contributions may be made to Grace Loves Ministry (Helping Foster Families of Geneva County), PO Box 1141, Slocomb, AL 36375 in memory of Mrs. Vinson.
Mrs. Vinson was born March 21, 1938 in Geneva County to the late L.E. Riley and Bessie Givens Riley. She enjoyed tending to her flowers, spending her free time sewing, and spending time with her family. For several years she worked in the textile business. Glenda was a member of Place of Grace Church.
In addition to her husband, Kenneth Vinson; brother, James “Buddy” Riley preceded her in death.
Survivors include her daughter, Rebecca “Becki” Vinson Thomley (Randy); grandchildren: Matthew Thomley, and Kendall Thomley Baker (Bryan); great grandchildren: Nathan Baker, Simon Baker, and Oliver Baker; sister, Camella Riley Veazy; nieces, nephews and other extended family and friends.
The family would also like to thank the nurses; Colby, Tabitha, and Kaylee; and caregivers: Miriam, Mondrell and all the afterhours nurses; and Bro. Eddie Bliss at Gentiva Hospice for the love and care shown to Mrs. Vinson.
