Mrs. Gloria Jean Baker Sasser, a resident of Ozark, passed away Wednesday morning, December 28, 2022. She was 79 years old.
Funeral services for Mrs. Sasser will be 10:00 A.M. Friday, December 30, 2022, in the Chapel of Holman Funeral Home in Ozark with Scott Shipes, her son-in-law, officiating. Interment will follow in Evergreen Freewill Baptist Church Cemetery, Holman Funeral Home of Ozark directing. The family will receive friends at the funeral home in Ozark Friday from 9:00 A.M. until service time.
Mrs. Sasser was born March 14, 1943 in Dale County, Alabama to the late James Melton Baker and Cloie Hines Baker. She grew up in Ariton and worked with General Telephone (GTE) for many years. Mrs. Sasser loved her family and loved spending time with each of them. She loved to play dominoes and go to the beach.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Kenneth Earl Sasser; the father of her children, James Morris Peters; and one sister, Connie Baker.
Survivors include one daughter, Mary Ann Shipes (Scott) of Ozark; two sons, Danny Paul Peters (Pam) of Skipperville and Herby Peters (Leigh) of Newville; two step-sons, Ronnie Hinkle (Debbie) of West Virginia and Kenny Sasser of Florida; grandchildren, Danny Peters (Ashley), Sharon Mathis, Elizabeth Haynie (Greg), Asher Peters, Cloie Belle Peters, Baker Shipes, and Zach Shipes (Jasmine); great grandchildren, Layla Peters, Lainey Peters and Mila Shipes.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Vivian B. Adams School, 2047 Stuart Tarter Road, Ozark, Alabama 36360.
