Mrs. Grace Brasington Smith of Samson, Alabama went to be with her Lord and Savior Wednesday, June 6, 2012.  She was 82.


 


Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m. Saturday, June 9, in the chapel of Sorrells Funeral Home in Geneva with Minister Kevin Presley officiating.  Burial will follow in the Travelers Rest Cemetery with Sorrells Funeral Home of Geneva directing.  The family will receive friends at the funeral home Friday, June 8, from 6 until 8 p.m.

Mrs. Smith was born November 9, 1929, in Geneva County to the late Collis and Verna B. Slate Brasington.  After 40 years of service working in the buying department, she retired from Benson Wholesale and Fleming Foods.  She had a passion for reading, cross stitch, and she also enjoyed ceramics.  But most of all, she enjoyed spending time laughing with her family and friends.  She was very loving and devoted to her family as well as her church, Earlytown Church of Christ, where she was a lifelong member.


 


In addition to her parents, her husband, Fred G. Smith, preceded her in death.


 


Survivors include one daughter, Patti Hatcher (Kenneth), Dothan; two sons, Tony Smith (Deborah A.) and Freddie Smith (Lynn), all of Samson; five grandchildren: Gerald Smith (Christy) Wewahitchka, FL, Joshua G. Smith and Brittney Hatcher, both of Dothan, Kylie and Weston Smith, both of Samson; two great-grandsons: Levi and Ashton Smith, Wewahitchka, FL; two sisters: Pat Hart (Jess), Montgomery, and June Broxson (Larry), Samson; brothers and sisters-in-law: Ernest Smith, Jr. (Jean), Bonifay, FL, William “Bill” Smith, Milton, FL and Jo Ann Adkison (Louie), Selma, AL; a number of special nieces, nephews, cousins, other extended family and friends; and special neighbors: Harold and Mildred Owens, Samson.
