DOTHAN…. Mrs. Gwendolyn Bell Byrd, a resident of Dothan, died late Thursday evening, December 17, 2020 at her home. She was 95.
There are no public services planned at this time. Interment will be in Arlington National Cemetery at a later date. Fuqua Bankston Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society, P.O. Box 22478, Oklahoma City, OK 73123.
Mrs. Byrd, daughter of the late Bascom Bell and Era Enfinger Bell, was a native of the Bell’s Crossroads Community of Dale County. She lived in Germany for several years before moving to Arlington, Virginia while working for the United States Civil Service. Mrs. Byrd moved to Dothan in 2003. She was preceded in death by her husband, Billy W. Byrd.
Surviving relatives include a stepdaughter, Adrianne Hopkins (Hugh), Orange Park, FL; sister, Ramona Bell Wright (George), Ozark; two nephews, Michael J. Wright (Maria) and Steven B. Wright, all of Chattanooga, TN; three grandchildren.
