Helen Floyd Barnes, 77, of Dothan, Alabama, widow of Willie Gene “W.G.” Barnes, passed away Thursday, June 11, 2015 at Southeast Alabama Medical Center.


 


Funeral services will be held 3:00 p.m. Saturday , June 13, 2015 in Clearman Chapel of Southern Heritage Funeral Home with Reverend John Smith officiating. Burial will follow in Howard Grove Freewill Baptist Church Cemetery in Cottonwood, Alabama. The family will receive friends from 2:00 p.m. until 3:00 p.m. prior to the services at the funeral home. At other times the family will be at the family residence, 113 Patriot Place, Dothan, Alabama 36305.


 


Serving as active pallbearers will be Troy Barnes, Jr., Chip Allen Crooms, Robert Lucas Tice, Trevor Grey Edge, Benjaman Yon Floyd, David Rex Floyd, and Terry Dean Edge.


 


Mrs. Barnes was born in Houston County, Alabama to the late Addis and Lucille Pearce Floyd, and resided in Cottonwood, Alabama before moving to Dothan, Alabama six years ago. She was a homemaker and a member of Calvary Baptist Church in Cottonwood, Alabama.


 


 


In addition to her husband, Mrs. Barnes was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Candace Barnes, and a brother, James Stewart Floyd.


 


Survivors include four daughters, Sarah Crooms (Rodney), Ashford, Debra Edge (Terry), Dothan, Sonja Real (Doug), Huntsville, Jeanie Talley (Richard), Dothan; two sons, Troy Barnes (Shelia), Anniston, Keith Barnes (Donna), Ozark; ten grandchildren, Troy Barnes, Jr. (Tracy), Robert Lucas Tice, Trevor Edge, Chip Crooms (Shelley), Jodi Crooms Scott, Angel Barnes Boyd (James), Galen Olive-Talley Smith (David), Hayden Olive-Talley, Emma Claire Talley, Katie Talley; several great grandchildren; a brother, Rex Floyd (Patty), Panama City, Florida; a sister, Elmarie Pickels, Marianna, Florida; a special caregiver and loving friend, Chinita Jackson, and other caregivers, Ashley Frazier and Annie Young.
