Mrs. Hughes was born on the 10th of July, 1932 to the late Fred and Bera (Moody) Williams of Geneva and was the oldest of eight children.
She was a 1950 graduate of Geneva High and married her only love, the late Roger Hughes shortly after graduation. For the next 65 years they built a life together and raised three sons; Jerry, Chris and Neil.
She was a lifelong homemaker, she loved her garden, she loved to fish but above all, her family was first and foremost. When grandchildren finally came along, she became known to all as "GeeMama". She will be sorely missed.
Mrs. Hughes is preceded in death by her loving husband Roger, her eldest son Jerry, her second son Chris, her parents, her brother Lamar "Duke" Williams, and her loving pet dog Dolly.
She is survived by her youngest son and wife, Neil and Blenda Hughes; daughter-in-law, Margaret Hughes; daughter-in-law, Cornelia Hughes; six grandchildren: Wayne Hughes, Shelly Sanders, Jessica Pair, Amanda Sanders, Daphne Johnston, and Neil Hughes II; thirteen great grandchildren, four brothers, and two sisters.
A special thanks to the Arbor Company facilities, Arbor Terrace & Lakeside of Amelia, as well as Vitas Hospice Services for the excellent care given to our "GeeMama".
Pall bearers include Wayne Hughes, Terry Sanders, Neil Hughes II, Larry Sanders, Preston Hughes, and Luke Johnston.
