OZARK…Hilda Nell Davis DeLoney, a loving faithful mother, wife, and friend, passed away on October 8, 2023, surrounded by her loved ones in Ozark, Alabama. She was born on June 19, 1935, in the Bertha Community of Dale County. Hilda’s parents were Lyman Lee Davis and Vassie Lee Barefield Davis. She had two sisters, Glenda P. Barrington and Mary F. Williams, two brothers, Houston L. Davis, Jr. and Julian H. Davis and was preceded in death by her husband of fifty-one years, Bill Deloney, Jr.
Hilda grew up in Ozark and graduated from Ozark High School in 1953. Throughout her life, she displayed a remarkable dedication to her family and friends. Her kindness and compassion were woven into the fibers of her being, touching the lives of those fortunate enough to know her. She was a member of the Ozark Primitive Baptist Church.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M. Wednesday, October 11, 2023, in the Fuqua Bankston Funeral Home Chapel with Elder Larry Wheeler officiating. Burial will follow in Woodlawn Memory Gardens. The family will receive friends from 10:00 until 11:00 A.M. Wednesday at the funeral home. Fuqua Bankston Funeral Home of Ozark is in charge of arrangements.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Ozark Primitive Baptist Church, 1083 County Road 34, Ozark, Alabama 36360.
Hilda cherished her role as a mother above all else. She leaves behind three children who meant the world to her: Debra DeLoney; Lee DeLoney; Jim DeLoney and his wife Lori. Her impact extended even further into the lives of her grandchildren: Weston DeLoney, Dylan DeLoney and his wife Whitney; as well as her great-grandchildren Kyllie Munn, Layton DeLoney, and Elly Jane DeLoney.
In addition to her immediate family, Hilda is survived by her sister-in-law Betty Davis as well as several nieces, nephews, step-grandchildren, and step-great-grandchildren.
Hilda’s life was characterized by her unwavering love and dedication to her family. Her warm heart and welcoming nature created a sanctuary of love and care that extended beyond her immediate relatives. Hilda’s presence will be deeply missed, but her legacy of kindness and compassion will continue to inspire all those whose lives she touched.
In honor of Hilda Nell DeLoney’s life, let us remember the profound impact she had on everyone fortunate enough to know her. May her memory serve as a beacon of love and warmth that guides us through our own journeys, reminding us to always cherish the bonds we form and the moments we share with our loved ones.
Serving as active pallbearers will be Dylan DeLoney, Weston DeLoney, Gus Hardwick, Chris Braman, Bucky Stevens, and Greg Nelson.
