Mrs. Ileta Beall Willoughby, 92, a resident of Crosby, died late Saturday, June 22, 2013, at Mease Countryside Hospital in Clearwater, Florida, after a long and fruitful life in which she touched many lives with her strength and selflessness.


 


Funeral services will be held at 11 A.M. Thursday, June 27, 2013, at Ward Wilson Memory Hill Funeral Home Chapel with Reverend Todd Thorpe officiating and Ward Wilson Funeral Home directing. The family will receive friends at the funeral home at 10 A.M. immediately prior to the service.


 


Mrs. Willoughby was born July 13, 1920, in Coffee County, the daughter of the late Rev. E.H.S. and Ella Leonia Hobbs Beall. She was raised in Altha, Florida, and attended New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary for one year. She received a Bachelor’s  Degree in Home Economics from Florida State College for Women (now FSU) in Tallahassee in 1941. She was a much-loved wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and friend. She was a partner in business with her husband in Willoughby’s Country Store and Willoughby Farms. She served as a Sunday School teacher, pianist, and school volunteer, and was a faithful member of Watermark Church in Ashford.


 


Mrs. Willoughby was preceded in death by her husband, C. Yates Willoughby, and sister, Gladys Brantley.


 


Survivors include daughter and son-in-law, Anne and Julius Cruise of Clearwater, FL; two sons and daughters-in-law, Charles S. and Maureen Willoughby of Mobile, and Barton and Karen Willoughby of Crosby; seven grandchildren, Lydia Kirkland (Dothan), Colby Willoughby (Dothan), Stephanie Chernin (Tampa, FL), Jessica Hardin (Albany, GA), Katie Willoughby (Pittsburg, PA), Meg Willoughby (Birmingham), and Stephen Willoughby (Birmingham); four great-grandchildren, Davis, Jansen, and Bennett Kirkland (Dothan), Izaak Chernin (Tampa, FL), and fifth due next month, Sarah Julianne Hardin (Albany, Ga); two step-great-grandchildren, Neal J. Hardin, (Albany, GA) and Taylor Hardin (Atlanta, GA); half-brother Wendell Beall (Bascom. FL), half-sister, Macie Moore (Campbellton, FL), and several nieces and nephews.
