OZARK…Mrs. Irene Newmiller Smith, a resident of Ozark, died late Saturday evening, July 13, 2024, at her home. She was 96.


            A Funeral Mass will be held at 10:00 A.M. Saturday, July 27, 2024, at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church in Ozark with Father Chris Boutin officiating. Interment will be at a later date. The family will receive friends from 9:00 until 10:00 A.M. on Saturday at the church. Fuqua Bankston Funeral Home of Ozark is in charge of arrangements.


            In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Salvation Army, Ozark, Alabama 36360.


            Mrs. Smith, daughter of the late Philip Jacob Newmiller and Irene Carmen Wilkinson Newmiller, was a native of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. She was a graduate of Temple University with a degree in accounting. Mrs. Smith was retired as a bookkeeper and accountant for various construction companies in Pennsylvania and other businesses in New Mexico. Some of her favorite things to do were to go on a cruise, in which she went on over eighty-four different cruises. Mrs. Smith enjoyed going to Las Vegas, playing golf, and supporting her favorite golfer, Corey Pavin. She was preceded in death by her sister, Michele “Mickey” Newmiller Netzhammer and her brother, Joseph A. Newmiller and his wife, Marie, and two nephews, Phillip Newmiller and Michael Newmiller.


            Surviving relatives include her husband of fifty-four years, Leroy F. Smith, Ozark; nieces and nephews including, David Thomas Newmiller and his wife, Donna Marie, Hatboro, Pennsylvania
