Mrs. Jane Chapman

Jane Chapman, a resident of Midland City, passed away on Saturday, May 30, 2020 at her residence. She was 79.

Funeral services will be held at 1:30 pm on Sunday, May 31, 2020 at Corinth Free Will Baptist Church, 4466 County Road 61, Midland City, AL 36350. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends at the church from 12:30-1:30 pm on Sunday.

Mrs. Chapman was born on August 2, 1940 in Charleston, West Virginia and resided in Midland City for the past 27 years. She owned and operated Jane’s Ceramic Shop for years but gave away most of it to family and friends because she loved it so much. She was the kindest, most gentle hearted person you would ever meet. She never had a bad thing to say about anyone. Mama Jane as she was known, will be remembered for helping anyone in need and for fostering over 57 children and adopting one. She was a homemaker and the widow of “Woody” Chapman, who passed away in November of 2019. Mrs. Chapman was a member of Corinth Free Will Baptist Church.

Mrs. Chapman was preceded in death by her husband, Woody Chapman, her mother and father, her brother, and 3 sisters.

Survivors include her 3 sons, Hugh (Helen) Chapman of Huntsville, AL, Fleetwood (Heather) Chapman of Bay Springs, AL, and Joe (Lisa) Chapman of Cowarts, AL; her 2 daughters, Neva (Chase) Wray of Midland City, AL and Dee Dee (Nolin Brasington) Chapman of Midland City, AL; her 11 grandchildren; 8 great-grandchildren; her 4 brothers; her 7 sisters; and several nieces and nephews including a very special niece, Jean Ann Medley.
