Jane Elmore McCardle, a resident of Cottonwood, died Saturday, August 8, 2015. She was 70.
Funeral services for Mrs. McCardle will be held at 11 AM Tuesday, August 11, 2015 in Clearman Chapel at Southern Heritage with Reverend John Smith officiating. Burial will follow in Ramah Primitive Baptist Church. The family will receive friends Monday evening from 4 PM until 6 PM at the funeral home.
Mrs. McCardle was born August 16, 1944 to Clarence Eugene and Mary Delitha Bond Elmore. She worked for the Ashford Power for 35 years and then the Enterprise Ledger and the Dothan Eagle. Mrs. McCardle was Ashford’s Woman of the Year in 1982 and a founding member of the Ashford Chamber of Commerce where she served as President from 1995 to 1997. After her retirement she continued to serve on the National Peanut Festival Board, enjoyed Bunco, trips with her cousins and the Cottonwood Senior Program.
Mrs. McCardle is preceded in death by her parents, husband, AJ McCardle; brothers, Jerry Bond Elmore and Jackie Eugene Elmore.
Survivors include her daughters, Pam and Scott Lowe, Kim Dillard; son, Chris McCardle, all of Cottonwood; grandchildren, Taylor and Jarod Lowe, Payton (Jason) Whitehead, Madison Dillard, Cade and Cohen McCardle, special great granddaughter, Emmalyn Jace Whitehead; sisters, Linda (Jimmy) Anderson, Ashford, LaGail (Bob) Chisholm, Collierville, TN; sister in law, Sue Elmore, Bonifay, FL; nieces and nephews and a special family friend, Brenda Joyce Gulledge.
