Mrs. Janice Lee Pynes Layton, age 86, of Dothan, Alabama went home to be with her Lord on March 15, 2024 following an extended illness.

Graveside services will be held at 10 AM, Monday, March 18, 2024 at Antioch Baptist Church Cemetery with Pastor Tim Skelton officiating and Ward Wilson Funeral Home directing.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorial contributions be made to the Antioch Baptist Church Cemetery Fund, 3250 South Rocky Creek Road, Ashford, Alabama 36312.

Mrs. Layton was born November 22, 1937 in Houston County. She was a graduate of Ashford High School Class of 1957. She was a homemaker and a member of Dothan Baptist Church.

She was preceded in death by infant twin brothers in 1948; her mother, Pastoria Whitehead Pynes in November 1999; her father, Estell Pynes in December 1999; her husband of 64 years, Bobby Gene Layton in January 2024.

Survivors include several uncles, aunts, and cousins, Mack Pynes (Merlene), Walter Pynes (Maxine), Dennis Pynes, Dorothy Ryals, Sara Chalmers, and Elaine Womack (Bernard); numerous other relatives and friends.
