Mrs. Jeanette McAnulty, affectionately known as Nette, age 81, passed away peacefully Monday, September 30, 2024, at her home surrounded by close family and friends. Jeanette was born and raised in the Bazemore Mill Pond Community, where she lived most of her life.

She graduated from Harmon Junior High School and then Ashford High School in 1961 before attending Troy State University. She married her high school sweetheart, Elmer McAnulty, shortly after. Jeanette and Elmer were happily married for sixty-one years and had two boys, Keith and Ken.

Jeanette enjoyed fishing with Elmer and cooking, but most of all she enjoyed spending time with her family.

She was a devoted Christian and a lifetime member of Pleasant Hill Baptist Church. She dearly loved her church family.

Jeanette was a long-time employee of First National Bank of Ashford, which later became MidSouth Bank. She truly enjoyed her work and the many co-workers she encountered through the years. Especially her friend, Nell Cherry Mathis, who she carpooled with and worked beside for all those years.

Left to cherish her beautiful memory is her loving husband of sixty-one years, Elmer McAnulty; sons, Keith (Susan) of Dothan; Ken (Melanie) of Dothan; sister, Debbie Whiddon (Danny) of Dothan; sisters-in-law, Julie Roberts of Valrico, FL, Mary Hart Roberts of Enterprise; grandchildren, Ryan McAnulty (Ashley) of Birmingham, Adam McAnulty (Kamrie) of Chattanooga, TN, Nicholas McAnulty (Savannah) of Chattanooga, TN, Benjamin McAnulty of Huntsville; great-grandchildren, Eleanor McAnulty, Cora McAnulty, Elind McAnulty, and Caden McAnulty.

Jeanette was preceded in death by her three brothers, Tony Roberts, Paul Roberts, and Wayne Roberts; parents, Boyd and Eileen Roberts.

The family would like to give a heartfelt thank you to the many church friends and other long-time friends and neighbors that have helped them through Jeanette’s illness. They would also like to give a special thank you to DaySpring Hospice and Cynthia Sistrunk for their loving care! They have all been such a blessing in our lives.

While flowers are accepted, the family requests memorial contributions to be made to Pleasant Hill Baptist Church, 3245 South County Road 81, Gordon, AL 36343 or DaySpring Hospice at 2464 West Main Street, Dothan, AL 36301.

Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Friday, October 4, 2024, at Pleasant Hill Baptist Church in Gordon with Reverend David Bishop and Dr. John Mouery officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery with Glover Funeral Home directing.  The family will receive friends from 10:00AM until 10:45AM prior to services.

Serving as pallbearers will be Ryan McAnulty, Adam McAnulty, Nicholas McAnulty, Benjamin McAnulty, Bruce Scarborough, and Danny Whiddon.

Serving as honorary pallbearers will be Matthew Moore, Steve Roberts, and Brad Roberts.

Glover Funeral Home has been entrusted with the arrangements. (334) 699-3888. Please sign the guestbook online at www.gloverfuneral.com
