Jeneve Hutcherson Brooks, 92, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, September 26, 2023 in Dothan, Alabama.
She was the daughter of Dr. J. Kenneth Hutcherson and Faith Luce Hutcherson of Louisville, Kentucky and the wife of Dr. Harold Logan Brooks of Corbin, Kentucky. She earned an undergraduate degree at Asbury University in Wilmore, Kentucky and a graduate degree from Syracuse University in Syracuse, New York.
Jeneve met Harold, the love of her life, during her freshman year at Asbury University. They married shortly after and enjoyed 68 years together in marriage. (Harold preceded Jeneve in death, February 2020.) Jeneve and Harold’s love for one another was often referred to by family and close friends as “one for the ages!” They were true soulmates!
Their three children, H. Logan Brooks, Jr., Cheryl Brooks Weldon and Jeneve R. Brooks filled their lives with joy and happiness and they treasured their grandchildren, Jenna Weldon Pascoli, James Wade Weldon, Sarah Brooks Fiedler, Victoria Faith Brooks and Anna Joy Brooks. They loved being close to family in their retirement, moving to Atlanta, Georgia to be near their daughter Cheryl and then settling in Dothan ten years ago to be near their daughter Jenny, also named Jeneve.
Jeneve’s life centered around her family and supporting Harold in his ministry. She was active in numerous community organizations throughout her life and enjoyed being involved with P.E.O. and DAR, Daughters of the American Revolution, up until her death.
She is survived by her brother, Kenneth Hutcherson, her three children, five grandchildren and six great grandchildren.
Her memorial service will be Saturday, September 30th at 11 am Central Time at the Ward Wilson Funeral Home, 2414 Hartford Highway, Dothan, Alabama. Mom’s pastor, Reverend Kyle Gatlin, from Covenant Methodist Church will be officiating. A reception will follow at Ward Wilson after the service. The service will be live-streamed and instructions on how to connect will be available Saturday morning at http://www.wardwilson.com.
Gifts of remembrance can be made to the scholarship fund set up in Jeneve’s family name, J. Kenneth & Faith Hutcherson Memorial Endowed Scholarship, at Asbury University, Office of Institutional Advancement, One Macklem Drive, Wilmore, Kentucky 40390.
