   Mrs. Jewell Powell Casey, a resident of Ariton, entered into her eternal home with Jesus on Wednesday morning, November 15, 2023. She was 92 years old.


   Funeral services for Mrs. Casey will be 11:00 A. M. Saturday, November 18, 2023, from Bethel Assembly of God Church in Ariton with Pastor Jeff Downing, Pastor Robert Hamilton and Reverend Sonny Moore officiating. Interment will follow in Woodlawn Memory Gardens, Holman Funeral Home of Ozark directing.


   The family will receive friends in the church Saturday from 9:30 A.M. until service time.


   Mrs. Casey was born January 27, 1931 in the Marvin Chapel Community of Coffee County, Alabama to the late Reverend James Hillard “J H” Powell and Carrie Merle Grimes Powell. Her most important job in life was serving for over fifty years as a pastor’s wife for her late husband, Reverend Gene Casey. She also worked as a Licensed Practical Nurse with Ozark Nursing Facility for twenty-five years. She loved to read (especially her Bible), solve word puzzles, grow plants, be with and cook for her family. Mrs. Casey loved to pray. People from all around would call her to pray for them and their needs.


   In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Reverend Edwin Gene Casey; her parents, Reverend James Hillard “J H” Powell and Carrie Merle Grimes Powell; two brothers, M. A. Powell of Winter Haven, Florida and Johnny Powell of Monroe, Virginia; six sisters-in-law, Gerrie Powell of Winter Haven, Florida, Betty Powell of Monroe, Virginia, Mary Nell Powell of Winter Haven, Florida, Judy Powell of Tallahassee, Florida, Faye Casey of Dothan and Jeanette Paulk of Ariton; and one brother-in-law, James Paulk of Ariton.


   Mrs. Casey is survived by two daughters, Marylin Paramore (Noah Derrell) of Ariton and Marsha Casey of Ozark; two grandchildren, Angela Olguin (Mike) of Dothan and David Reisch (Angie) of Cowarts; six great grandchildren, Chelsea Danner of Mobile, Colby Danner of Cowarts, Chloe Danner of Dothan, Nick Olguin of Dothan, Laurel Lopez (Nic) of San Antonio, Texas, Brittany Bowen (Myles) of Perry, Georgia, and Kaitlyn Rogers (Randy) of Dothan; two great-great grandchildren, Korbin Rogers of Dothan and Reagan Lopez of San Antionio, Texas; two brothers, Louis Powell of Winter Haven, Florida and Marvin Powell (Brenda) of Blakely, Georgia. Many nieces and nephews also survive.


   In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in her memory to Bethel Assembly of God Missions, P. O. Box 33, Ariton, Alabama 36311.
