Mrs. Jimmie Frances Stubbs Skipper, age 84 of Dothan passed away in her home, surrounded by family members, on Friday night, November 20, 2015 after a long battle with Alzheimer’s.
Mrs. Skipper was born January 29, 1931 and raised in Dale County (Ozark). She graduated from Dale County High School and Riley Business College. She was married to James Rupert Skipper (deceased 2011) for over 60 years.
Mrs. Skipper retired from the Alabama Department of Revenue after over 20 years of service. She was an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints for ove 50 years, serving as Sunday School secretary for over 25 years and singing in the church choir.
Some of Mrs. Skipper’s interests include reading, music, shopping, travelling, and Alabama football.
Mrs. Skipper was preceded in death by her husband, James Rupert Skipper; her parents, James Robert and Lola Ida Stubbs; and a sister, Wanda Ivey.
Survivors include her sons, Mike (Charlote) Skipper, Mark (Carol) Skipper; daughters, Marilyn (Curt) Barnes and Janet (Dan) Wise, all of Dothan, AL; 13 grandchildren and 22 great-grandchildren; a special niece, Denise Louthain; and close family friends, Paul and Angie Smith of San Antonio, TX.
Funeral services will be held at 2 PM, Monday, November 23, 2015 from the Ward Wilson Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will follow in Memory Hill Cemetery with Ward Wilson Funeral Home directing. The family will receive friends from 1 PM until 2 PM, Monday, November 23, 2015 one hour prior to the service.
The family will be accepting flowers or contributions may be made to The Alzheimer’s Association.
