OZARK…Mrs. Joan Carpenter Dickey, a resident of Ozark, died early Thursday morning, June 27, 2024, at her home. She was 87.
Celebration of Life Services will be held at 2:00 P.M. Saturday, July 6, 2024, in the Fuqua Bankston Funeral Home Chapel with Reverend Edward Soto officiating. The family will receive friends from 1:00 until 2:00 P.M. Saturday at the funeral home. Fuqua Bankston Funeral Home of Ozark is in charge of arrangements.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Navy-Marine Corps Relief Society, Attn: Development Department, 875 N Randolph St, Suite 225, Arlington, VA 22203.
Mrs. Dickey, daughter of the late Martin Francis Carpenter and Mable Ryder Carpenter, was a native of Kensington, Maryland. She married the love of her life, Tom “Buck” Dickey, who preceded her in death by just a few days. They had been married for sixty-six years. Mrs. Dickey was a true military wife, supporting her family and raising their children. She lived in various locations in the United States while her husband served in the Marine Corps before moving to Ozark in 1975. Mrs. Dickey was preceded in death by a brother, Michael Carpenter.
Surviving relatives include two daughters, Linda Heck (Greg), Hoover and Karen Paramore, Ozark; his son, Bill Dickey, Lawrenceville, Georgia; sister, Dorothy Wheeler (Fred), Cape Cod, Massachusetts; her twin brother, David Carpenter (Donna), Dunkirk, Maryland; two sisters-in-law, Joan Carpenter, St. George, Utah and Shirley Kirkland, Dothan; seven grandchildren, Justin Heck, Sydney Heck, Christopher Heck, Clayton Paramore (Jennifer), Tyler Dickey, Ashley Dickey, and Haley Dickey; two great-grandchildren, Robert Paramore and Samuel Paramore; nieces, nephews, and cousins.
