Joan Marie Lambert (known as Nannie), a beacon of love and creativity, passed away peacefully on June 14, 2024, in Dothan, Alabama. Born on March 23, 1932, in Iowa, to the late William Carl and Stella Inez McCullough, Joan’s life was a tapestry of devotion to her family, her crafts, and her community. She was a cherished wife to her husband Arnold Lambert for 58 remarkable years, and a nurturing mother to her children John Hodges (Rhonda), Lory Hodges, Mark Allen Lambert, Frances Irene Lambert, and Pam Sims (Todd).
Along with her parents, she is preceded in death by her sister Helen Louise Hauck, and brothers William (Bill) McCullough and James Wilson McCullough.
Joan’s legacy extends through a lineage of love, including her granddaughter Jamie Purvis (Phillip), numerous other grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren, all of whom were the recipients of her boundless affection and support. Her role as a grandmother was one she cherished deeply, and the wisdom she imparted will continue to guide her family for generations.
Her hands were rarely still, for Joan was a woman of many talents. Whether she was engaged in her crafts, contributing her time and energy to the B Team Angels. Her hobby was collecting thimbles and she was a member of the Gem and Mineral Club. Joan approached each activity with a passion that was contagious. Her creative spirit was evident in everything she did, leaving a lasting impression on all who knew her.
A faithful member of the Tabernacle Methodist Church, Joan’s kindness and generosity were as much a part of her faith as they were of her character.
Joan’s culinary skills were legendary, earning her the title of the best cook among family and friends. Her kitchen was the heart of her home, where aromas of her delicious creations brought comfort and warmth.
As we bid farewell to Joan Marie Lambert, we celebrate a life well-lived, a journey filled with love, creativity, and kindness. Her memory will be cherished, her lessons remembered, and her love felt always. Joan’s story does not end with her passing but continues in the lives of those she loved and who loved her in return. Rest in peace, dear Joan, until we meet again.
A special thanks to Dayspring Hospice, Stephanie, Lynn and Daulton.
