Mrs. Johnnie Lee Walden, age 98, of Dothan, passed away Thursday, August 31, 2023 at her home surrounded by her family.
Born May 28, 1925, in Houston County, Alabama to the late Lee Jones and Zelma Ortiz Granger, Johnnie loved flowers, no matter the type or color, the more colorful the better. She also loved sitting and watching the hummingbirds in her garden.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Hubert Walden; her son, Richard Walden; her grandson, Ricky Walden; her son-in-law, Donald Hicks; and her sister, Christine Hardison.
Johnnie is survived by her daughters, Norma Taylor (Lloyd), JoAnne Hicks, Susan Cobb (Roger), and Chris Jenkins (Gary); her daughter-in-law, Diane Hemby (Ronnie); her grandchildren, Jeff Taylor, Jon Taylor (Sheri Ann), Barry Hicks (Melanie), Ashley Hicks (Wendy), Clay Hicks (Whitney), Abbie Robinson (Colby), Scott Walden (Tara), Randy Walden (Denise), Shannon Martelli (Dave), and Jimmy Bass; her great-grandchildren, Kylee, Tucker, Ashlyn, Emma, DJ, Bryson (Abby), Molly Grace, Waylon, Stella, Justin, Michael, Jordan, Logan, Colby, and Victoria; a special nephew, Rodney Walden; a special friend, Eloise Baxley; other relatives and friends.
Graveside services will be held at 12 PM, Sunday, September 3, 2023 at Memory Hill Cemetery with Chaplain Darryl Bates officiating.
Flowers will be accepted or donations may be made to American Cancer Society or Salvation Army.
The family would like to thank all their hospice caregivers, especially Jesslynn, Dana, Chaplain Darryl Bates, and Alice Camp.
The family will receive friends and family at the home of Roger and Susan Cobb.
