Mrs. Johnnie Louisa McClain Edge, age 82, a lifelong resident of Dothan, passed away Monday November 10, 2014 after an extended illness.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday November 15, 2014 at the New Bethel Missionary Baptist Church with Dr. Walter Bowers, Sr. officiating. Burial will follow in the Gates of Heaven Cemetery with Kendall Glover directing.
The family will be receiving friends at the church from 10 a.m. until 10:45 a.m. Saturday. Flowers will be accepted or memorial contributions may be made to New Bethel Missionary Baptist Church, 1110 Allen Rd., Dothan, AL. 36303.
Mrs. Edge was born on December 21, 1931 in Dothan the daughter of Homer David McClain and Johnnie Bell Henry McClain. She worked as a caregiver for most of her lifetime and she was a member of New Bethel Missionary Baptist Church.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Turner Willie Edge, Sr.; two sons, Dwight Edge & Marion Edge; daughter, Denise Edge; sister, Helen McClain Johnson; two aunts, Dorothy & Mary Potter.
Survivors include: 4 daughters, Janie Wright, Sandra Edge, & Rona Walker, all of Dothan; Elizabeth Edge, Baton Rouge, La.; two sons, Turner Willie Edge, Jr. & Edward Edge, both of Dothan; 11 grandchildren; 7 great-grandchildren; 2 nephews; Lucy Lagree, The Bell’s, The Henry’s, The Potter’s, Flowers, Fultz, Wards, McCallips and many friends; A Special family, The Ludlums (Gene, Carolyn, Sandra, Ann, Nancy, Ed (deceased) and Jane (deceased) and their children and grandchildren; Special friends, attorney Doug Bates and Dr. Rhone Parrish
Active pallbearers will be: Edward Edge, Larue Japhet Morriss, Michael Henry and Roydreckus Edge.
Honorary pallbearers will be: Deacons at New Bethel Missionary Baptist Church.
Glover Funeral Home of Dothan has been entrusted with the arrangements.
