Mrs. Mary Joyce Powell, of Slocomb, passed away Tuesday, September 15, 2015. She was 84.
Born June 4, 1931 in Dale County, Alabama to the late Iverson and Bama Carroll Isler, she was a member of New Providence Baptist Church. Mrs. Powell was a registered nurse and enjoyed gardening, crocheting, crossword puzzles and reading when she retired from the nursing profession.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, James Edward Powell and her brothers, James Isler and Jessie Isler.
Survivors include her daughters, Deborah McAllister and Sharon (Randy) Galpin; her son, James Robert (Renee) Powell; her sister, Mildred (Don) van Norman; her brothers, Kenneth (Pam) Isler and Carroll Isler; five grandchildren; 8 great-grandchildren; her sister-in-law, Myrtle Isler; several nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Funeral services will be held at 3 PM, Friday, September 18, 2015 from the Ward Wilson Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will follow in Memory Hill Cemetery with Ward Wilson Funeral Home directing. The family will receive friends from 2 PM until 3 PM, Friday, September 18, 2015 at the funeral home.
