Joyce Wells Traylor, 89, passed away on Wednesday, April 3, 2024, after a long illness.
Funeral Services will be held at 11AM Saturday, April 6, 2024, at Ward Wilson Funeral Home with Reverend Tim Willis officiating. Burial will follow in Memory Hill Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 10 - 11am on Saturday.
Left to cherish her memories include her son, Ronnie Traylor (Linda); grandchildren, Landon Traylor, Tiffany Miller (Jonathan), Kip Enfinger, Gabriela Lopez, and Rick Field; great-grandchildren, Brooklyn Miller, Justin Enfinger, Cameron Schwartz, and Myla Cioffi; brother Bruce Wells; and two sisters, Juanita Motley and Mary Davis.
Joyce is preceded in death by her parents, Rudolph Wells and Ferrell Pennington Wells; brothers, Lynn Wells and David Wells; and daughter, Melinda Traylor Lopez.
She retired from her teaching career after 36 years with teaching in Jacksonville, FL., Ashford High School, and Wallace College. In addition to teaching the subject matter, she also taught students organization and cleanliness. Upon leaving the classroom at the end of class, students must leave the room as clean as they found it.
Joyce enjoyed working in her yard adding blooming plants for each season, playing dominoes with friends, visiting her son in Jacksonville, FL., and always keeping a spotless home.
Her grandchildren especially remember her chicken dressing and apple dumplings that she always prepared for family gatherings.
She was a member of Ridgecrest Baptist Church and a member of dearly loved Sunday School Class, The Encouragers.
Pallbearers are Steve Clark, Robb Dryden, Larry Wells, Kip Enfinger, Landon Traylor, and Rick Field. An Honorary Pallbearer will be Jim Robins.
Flowers will be accepted or a contribution in Joyce’s name may be made to DaySpring Hospice or Ridgecrest Sunday School Class, The Encouragers.
The family would like to thank DaySpring Hospice for their outstanding care during this time.
