Mrs. Juanita (Nita) Evans Loftin of Clio, Alabama went to be with her Lord and Savior on June 2, 2022. Juanita was born in Louisville, Alabama on February 19, 1927, to Charles and Florrie Evans. She was the middle of three children, with older brother Howard and younger sister Betty.
Nita married Cecil Loftin on January 18, 1944. She was fiercely loyal to her family and worked hard to provide for them. While Cecil served in the US Navy, Nita lived with her Uncle Bill and Aunt Mable and worked at Montgomery Ward. After Nita and Cecil purchased their own home in Clio, they opened a general store and gas station that they ran together for several years. They also built a farm with pigs, cows, and beautiful hayfields. In 1960 Nita began working for the US Postal Service and served at the Clio Post Office until her retirement. Long after leaving the post office, she could still tell you who lived in each house you passed in Clio.
Known by her grandchildren as Meme, Nita was also known for her cooking. Her pound cake would melt in your mouth, and she made the perfect chocolate milkshake to wash it down. She was a woman of many talents and leaves her family and friends with many wonderful memories.
Nita was a faithful member of Pleasant Ridge Baptist Church. She and Cecil loved the sweet fellowship they found at the church with friends and family. They had a favorite pew, including a handmade blanket to keep Nita warm.
Nita is survived by her daughters, Linda L. (Bernard) Robinett of Houston, TX, Jill L. (Michael) Patterson of Dothan, AL; grandchildren William L. (Bill) Robinett, C. Michelle Patterson, Suzanne R. (Carlos) Buchanan, Joshua M. (Rachel) Patterson, Jennifer L. (Kyle) Wilson, Jason M. Patterson; great grandchildren, Jessica D. (Robert) Moore, Carlos E. Buchanan III, Aryana L. Buchanan, Alice E. Wilson; great great grandchildren, Autumn J. Moore, Marissa L. Moore, Corbin M. Moore, and many beloved and cherished friends. Nita was preceded in death by her and Cecil’s infant son, great grandson Brent L. Robinett and husband of almost 78 years, Cecil Clarence Loftin.
Pallbearers are Jason Patterson, Joshua Patterson, Kyle Wilson, Carlos Buchanan, Bill Robinett and Robert Moore. Honorary pallbearers are Brent Smith and Terrell Smith.
Services will be held Saturday, June 4, 2022, at 3:00 pm at Pleasant Ridge Baptist Church, 5320 County Road 15, Ozark, Alabama 36360. Graveside will follow immediately after the service. Visitation will be from 2:00 to 3:00 pm. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations in memory of Juanita Loftin to Pleasant Ridge Baptist Church for their cemetery fund.
