Mrs. Peters was born June 26, 1939 in Coffee County, Alabama to the late James Raymond Johnson and Dollie Senn Johnson. She is a member of Rocky Head Baptist Church with a strong belief in the Lord. She worked in the lunchroom of Lisenby Elementary School for 27 years. Marie never met a stranger who didn’t become a friend and left with a smile. She enjoyed bidding at local auctions, singing gospel at Klondike Gospel Center, eating at local restaurants and shelling peas with her family. Marie dedicated 50+ years to the Peters farm and was the backbone of the entire family. She was best known by her family for her compassion, strength, curiosity and love. While Marie walked softly, she carried a walking stick and was not afraid to use it when someone acted out of line.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Willie Hilton Peters and her daughter, Patsy Peters Hamrick.
She is survived by her sons, Jimmy Peters (Lynn) and Tim Peters (Anne); her grandchildren, Leah Roche (Jacob), Hunter Peters (Kim), Jamie Peters (Shina), Timothy Peters (Brittney), and Alon Peters; her great-grandchildren, Noel, Sami, Braydon, Emyleigh, Isabelle, Jase, Jon, Jaylen, Jaxson and Dalton.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in her memory to Pleasant Grove Baptist Church Cemetery Fund, 1124 County Road 11, Ozark, Alabama 363630; or to Enhabit Hospice, 805 E Lee Street, Suite C, Enterprise, Alabama 36330.
