Mrs. Julia Viola Greer Helton of Geneva, AL passed away Monday, March 8, 2021 surrounded by her loving family. She was 92.
Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday, March 11, 2021 in the chapel of Warren Holloway Ward Funeral in Geneva, AL with Bro. Donnie Earles and Bro. Larry Mock officiating. Burial will follow at Sunset Memorial Garden with Warren Holloway Ward Funeral Home directing. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Wednesday evening from 6 until 8 p.m.
Mrs. Julia was born March 1, 1929 in Rogersville, TN (Hawkins Co.) to the late Charles Fredrick and Vernia Ellen Mauk Greer. It was here that she met and married the love of her life, Jim Helton, who she spent the next 42 wonderful years with. Mrs. Julia had an unwavering faith in God that she shared with her children and many friends along the way. She enjoyed flowers, gardening and photography. She was a caring and loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister and friend.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her loving husband, Jim Helton, precious son, Freddie Helton, four sisters, Elizabeth Miller, Lena Kelone, Mae Greer and Ella Bear and three brothers, Claude, Elmo and Wayne Greer.
She is survived by three daughters, Patsy Louise Strouther of Glenmora, LA, Betty Jane Johnson (Sidney) of Bonifay, FL, Dovie Dean (Steve) of Kinston, AL, two sons, James Billy Helton (Heidi) of Kingsport, TN, Johnny D. Helton (Kay) of Greenville, TN, daughter-in-law, Ginger Helton of Daleville, AL, one sister, Annie Christian of Duffriend, VA, 16 grandchildren, 46 great-grandchildren and 12 great-great grandchildren and a host of special nieces and nephews.
Serving as pallbearers will be Kelly, Cory , Cole, Caden and Michael Dean and Chris Helton.
