Kathleen Campbell Kirkland, a resident of Dothan died peacefully Monday March 13, 2017 after an extended illness at the home of her daughter, Pat and Wayne Hall. She was 89.
Funeral services for Mrs. Kirkland will be held at 2 PM Monday, March 20, 2017 in Clearman Chapel at Southern Heritage with Rev. Tim Willis officiating. Burial will follow at Gardens of Memory. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service to the funeral home. Flowers are being accepted or memorial contributions may be made to Ridgecrest Baptist Church Music or Outreach Ministry 1231 Fortner Street, Dothan, Alabama 36301.
Mrs. Kirkland was born in Madrid, Alabama on August 23, 1927, the fifth child of Emory B. and Lavada Pennington Campbell. In 1944 she married Joseph Edward Kirkland, who predeceased her in 2000. They resided in the Webb, Alabama community before moving to Dothan to be near Pat and Wayne in 1996. She was a member of Mt. Ararat Baptist Church in Webb, Alabama.
Survivors include her daughter and son in law, Pat and Wayne Hall; grandson, Bruce Hall; granddaughter, Lamesa (Chad) Dean; great-grandchildren, Ryan and Emma Dean, all of Dothan; brother in laws, Bob Lane of Webb, and James Chumney of Madrid; several nieces, nephews, and other relatives; longtime friend, Gladys Hall of Dothan; special birthday friend, Deen (Hilton) Williams of Pine Level; and her “Special Angels”, who through the last few years have shared and brightened her life, Sandy, Mamie, Samantha, Helen, LeeAnn, Margie, and Josephine.
Mrs. Kirkland is also predeceased by her eight siblings, Troy, Florence, Leona, Eldora, Carrie Mae, Curtis, Shirley, and David; and a granddaughter in law, Donna Hall.
The family wishes to extend a special “Thank You” to Dr. Calvin Reid and staff, Dothan Ambulance Service, and employees of Briar Creek Clinic for their care and assistance.
Serving as pallbearers will be Sammy Roney, Dr. Jeff Strickland, Roscoe Rabon, and Chaplain Wayne Krist.
